We started Organic O' Canada out of concern for our own children. Upon learning about SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and the association with fire-retardants*, we asked ourselves the question, "What are we sleeping on?” We were determined to find products that would offer a healthy sleep without concerns of dust mites, mold, allergy causing chemicals, or suspicious flame retardants, and make these natural alternatives available to others at affordable prices.

While we have expanded our product line, Organic O' Canada is primarily a bedding and bed company offering people the freedom to choose healthy sleeping environments. Our cores are made out of 100% latex rubber. Our other products are primarily 100% organic cotton, grown and processed without using chemicals or chlorine bleach. We also use untreated wool in some products because of its fire-retardant qualities.

*Since the 1950's, conventional mattresses have had chemical compounds containing phosphorus, arsenic and antimony added for fire retardants. Research suggests that when these heavier-than-air gases are in contact with a fungus that is commonly found in bedding they create a poisonous gas ( Richardson 1994). If a baby breathes in or absorbs a lethal dose of the gases, the central nervous system shuts down which stops breathing and then heart function.
